Through the EU India Livelihood project which began in March 2016, we have established a Livelihood Resource Centre at Cuddalore and two satellite centre (SLRC) at Chennai and Nagapattinam. These centers provide a wide range of services for people with disabilities. Currently we cover eight districts in Tamil Nadu – Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Karaikal, Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram
The LRCs are envisaged to be knowledge centres which focus on livelihood promotion for persons with disabilities such as visual, hearing or speech impairment, particularly in the age group of 18 -45 yrs. The staff at the LRC provide a wide range of services including information on various government schemes and benefits as well as counseling, career guidance, training in life skills or soft skills, vocational training, support for rntrepreneurship development, provision of assistive devices, etc.
